Located on a hillside near Honeybourne, Stansgate successfully negotiated planning permission from Wychavon District Council for a new country house which met the standard set out in (the then) Planning Policy Statement 7 (PPS7) – now paragraph 55 of the NPPF.

Five elements in particular contributed to making this “truly outstanding”: the design of the central roof (a sliding thatched roof); the wall construction; the type of experimental woodchip micro-CHP unit; experimental solar photovoltaics; and the overall energy strategy, sufficient for the house to be awarded the highest construction standard.
